You may already be feeling it or at lease anticipating its arrival. Winter is on the way, for some, it is already here. Accompanying this cold season is the inevitable slow down of our bodies and resistance to aerobic exercise and maintaining a healthy weight. In this article, we look at the ways to avoid or even conquer the 4th season blues.

Probably the biggest change you will notice in winter is the lack of will power. Excuse making will prevail; "its too cold" - "lack of space" - "not enough time" etc.
You must remember, that you've kept healthy and maintained an aerobic regime throughout the year, you are capable of doing so even during this chilly season. It may motivate you to think that this is the critical time to stay fit! Even if you do pause your main workouts, keep "the clock ticking over" by doing low paced classes like "Jane Fonda's Start Up" or "Jane Fonda's Stress Reduction Program"

Working out in a cold environment isn't a very appealing prospect. There are some who use the garage or shed where space is most plentiful. It's best to warm up the area before and during your class. Wear more layers, and shed them as you get hotter.
For classes where floor stretching is done before the the aerobic portion starts (like New Workout, Challenge, Original),
you may find it much easier to do your warm-up inside your home. Alternatively, "Jane Fonda's Start Up", an excellent stretching workout, can be used in place of the other workout's warm up parts as it doesn't require much room.

Its natural to feel a lack of energy, scientists speculate this is our inner function to preserve running time during times when food is scarce.

Diet

You may need to change your diet* I personally find foods rich in energy, like rolled oats with honey to be a healthy start to the morning. This also keeps me going through out the day with its steady supply of glucose. Many great recipes can be found in "Jane Fonda's Cooking for Healthy Living"

Sun Light
Lack of sunlight has been found to result, for some in a diminishment of power. On the market, there are many
simulated sun light light bulbs which can replace the conventional ones in your workout space. Though this will not totally solve the problem, it makes a great difference.

Switching Over

If you can not longer cope with a fast paced or intermediate workout, you might want to try some Fonda Low Impact Programmes like "Low Impact Workout", "Jane Fonda's Stress Reduction Programme"
Or even taking up walking, which burns calories too!

*Please consult your doctor.
