| Don't
let your guard down on your health... |
|
| During
times of emergency, we have all at times
let our diets go. Its a great justification
to relax our diet rules because the
power went out or a harsh unexpected
winter storm has hit our house. This
week, we've been inundated with emails
from people with this problem due to
the Iraq war. In this special article,
we look at solutions to staying on track. |

From
what we've heard, these
are the two main reasons for dropping your
health plan...
1. If you're like the many
people who've written in to us, you'll find
that watching the live war coverage leaves
you feeling emotionally or energetically
exhausted. This will result in lower power
to stay on your health regime.
2. In special circumstances you
will mentally make special exceptions for
your diet and fitness plan. Try to recall
any times in the past when this has happened
- Allowing your self to hold the diet as
the power has gone out, cutting out
exercise as a winter storm just arrived
in your town... We've all done it, making
excuses to our selves to relieve the guilt.
And with war predominant on all media and
around us, it's so easy to say "Well
there is a war on... eating properly isn't
really important)" |

1.
Don't resort to food comfort. It only brings a short
high and leaves you feeling low, not to mention
the weight you'll gain after making a habit of it.
2. If you must eat irrationally to feel better,
make them healthy meals! Either buy or borrow (and
say you lost it..) Jane
Fonda's Cooking for Healthy Living
3. Try to connect with your inner self, add yoga
in to your weekly workout plan. Relaxation plays
a large part in keeping your nerves. Walking is
probably the best and easiest form of "solitude
exercise", both getting a workout and having
time by your self to think. It's amazing how many
women have emailed us a year after their divorce
to say thank you for Jane
Fonda's Walkout, which has given them time
to repair, whilst preventing the exercise shut down
our body goes through after an emotional of traumatic
event.
4. Write a schedule and stick to it. After following
your schedule for a week or so, chances are you
will feel compelled to stick to it from there on.
5. Don't let your body shut down. If you are like
one of the many lucky ones that have a slow metabolism
(yes that was sarcasm..) the last thing you want
is for your metabolic rate to come to a grinding
halt. Try running on
"low time" where you keep your aerobic
activity to a minimum yet enough to stay healthy.
Such as "Jane
Fonda's Low Impact Workout" or "Jane
Fonda's Stress Reduction Program" The
stress reduction class by the way, is the only low
impact workout which incorporates both low impact
aerobics AND a destressing class.
6. This is a brilliant tip and I can personally
recommend it. Do your aerobics before any thing.
Wake up and workout. Don't touch the dial on your
television to view coverage of the real world until
you've worked out. Workers from home (including
stay at home parents) can approach their work with
this technique too.
