Happy New Year 2004! Now that New Year's Eve and Day are finally behind us and died out, so are our resolutions. Statistically, you are very lucky (or willful) if you're still on the road to good health and keeping a fitness regime every day. In some ways, this is a good thing; our blind optimism has died off to give way to more attainable goals.
I've met many people recently, mainly women, whom complain the significant others in their lives aren't surprised, and are even smug that they didn't keep their healthy New Years plans. If you are one of these people, take no notice of what others say! Don't for one moment any longer, think that there is no hope or little point to fulfilling your well being of body and mind. The fact is that YOU CAN DO IT! It sounds like a bad infomercial title, and that I'm about to sell you a new ab crunching product, but it isn't, you really can achieve what you want by simply doing it. If you have at lease one aerobic program, then you are halfway there, if you have little time, we can work around that, and finally... if you find pessimism from those around you (like your husband, relatives, co-workers) it's probably because they know that you can succeed and ultimately rock the status-quo of who belongs where - it really can threaten people. So lets tackle several points / reasons that may stop us from a fit new start to a new year.

Time, or lack of
We have so little of it in this day and age, yet we still find an hour or two to watch TV? That is the case for many of us. The problem is when we do have time, we do tend to waste it. Running a household and a family is the biggest time taker - the majority of working women still maintain a house and family! So what can we do?

There are Four Jane Fonda workouts designed for those with little time to spare, the shortest being the most effective. They are Jane Fonda's Abs, Buns & Thighs - Two 25 minute workouts which have fun aerobics and short, but incredibly powerful toning exercises for the abdominal and lower body area (Click Here to Read More about Abs, Buns & Thighs), Jane Fonda's Total Body Sculpting - Two 25 minute weights workouts designed to sculpt your body in a minimum of time. (Click Here to Read More about Total Body Sculpting), Jane Fonda's Complete Workout - A 70 minute class designed to be done all of once of in parts, meaning you'd do 35 minutes of fat burning aerobics one day and another class for sculpting and toning the lower body the following day (Click Here to Read More about Complete Workout), Jane Fonda's Low Impact and Stretch Workout - two 25 minute classes, the first giving you a low impact "dancey" workout, the second giving a 25 minute full body stretch which is great if you've been sitting down each day. (Click Here to Read More about Low Impact & Stretch)

If you can spare just 30 minutes to yourself each day (or use your lunch break) you can burn off an extra 300 calories, that's 1800 calories in a week! And just under half a pound of fat. Start walking (or do Jane's popular Walkout) to work or to the stores each day, plus the aerobics and you could be burning a whopping 750 calories! Walk home and that makes 1850 calories - just about half a pound of fat in one day! Use your time wisely and you'll be amazed how many extra calories you can lose. And just in case you need the confirmation.. (I know we all do) these extra calories all add up to burning pounds of fat, based on what you've just read, you could lose several pounds a week - especially when accompanied with a healthy diet.

Reason Two: Will Power
Oh, how we talk about this every year! When I lost my weight solely with Jane Fonda's workouts, I kept anything that inspired me to lose weight, pinned up and visible where I could see it. Pictures of models from health magazines, old photos of where I for some unknown magic reason, looked amazing - and in my case skinny. Maybe it was good lighting, good angle or a brilliant photographer, who knows - but what does count is that seeing it made me realize that the results I wanted were not impossible.

Write a plan (or "mind-map") of where you are, where you want to be by next year, and how you intend to do it. Stick to it and tick off every thing as you accomplish it. It is a real energy boost just to see you've done [even the minutest thing,] what you set out to do, with it comes higher self-esteem and (you've guessed it) willpower!

MoneyReason Three: Money.. or lack ofIt's an undesirable mind-set to think you have to be outrageously cashed up to improve your body. Stop saving for the latest fad product, they may work, but I doubt the models on the commercials used them, and they can be repetitive (meaning it's easy to lose interest) and expensive. If you have a workout tape (even if it isn't one of Jane's) you have all you need. A tape or DVD is a one time purchase. Going to the gym is an ongoing expense.
In my opinion, you really can't get any better than Jane's Workout Video Library of 23 aerobic programs. They average about 10.00 (USD) each, which may be an expensive luxury for some. As luck would have it, most libraries do carry them and if they don't, will order them in for you - for free. I've lived in Canada, the UK and the USA, in each country, I have had no trouble getting hold of a workout.
Just tell the librarian the title of the video you'd like and ask them to order it in.

Good luck for 2004 - It's going to be a great year! [Ladies,] if your spouse puts you down about what you are going to do, remember that by the time you've finished, you'll be able to trade him in for a younger model! (how's that for motivation?!).
