From A-list actress to aerobics queen, Jane has always been one step
ahead of the style pack
Born into one of Hollywood's biggest movie dynasties, Jane Fonda was
always destined to become a big-screen legend. The star of several
controversial flicks, such as cult sci-fi classic Barbarella, she
became as famous as her political views and cool styling as she was
for her acting. She slipped elegantly and effortlessly from 60's beatnik
to 80's power dresser, stepping off the red carpet in favor of the
workout studio floor.
She turned a life of exercise (she coined the phrase: "Go for
the Burn"), and is single-handedly responsible for the birth
of the aerobics video, being the first to jump into action with a
belted leotard in the inimitable Jane Fonda's Workout.
On screen, Jane worked every look to the max, whether in ball-breaking
futuristic metallic garb (if you haven't seen Barbarella, we suggest
you rent it pronto) or prim secretarial twin sets (in seminal 80's
blockbuster 9 to 5). Off screen, her image was constantly evolving,
from elfin-cropped hippy activist in ethnic threads to sultry come-and-get-me
starlet with big hair and big attitude via nautical but nice.

Thong sandals teamed with wide-legged trews or a gypsy skirt and plain
tee, beads worn as bangles, choker, instant tan and black mascara.
Chunky ethnic necklace, black eyeliner, natural lipstick, big curlers,
firm holding spray.
